The chaps have re-christened this month Mo-vember, and are nursing their fledgling seventies style 'taches. But for me it's still No-vember. No snacking, no chocolate and crisps, and hopefully - by the end of the month - no more huge jelly belly! Just a modestly sized tum as it'll take more than a month to shift the weight I've put on over the last few years. Anyway, to keep my mind off tasty treats I've been working on various needlepoint projects. The photo above is a section of a scrapbook in which I've stuck images cut out of magazines, postcards, flyers etc. You might just be able to make out an illustration by Brian Wildsmith of a hare. I love the animal's shape and the colours, so I used it to base a piece of needlepoint on.
You hopefully can see how I've kept the hare's pose, but adapted rather than slavishly copied the background. There're gold coloured metallic thread swirls in the sky and stylized flowers in a meadow.
When it's eventually finished I want to make some sort of frame for this picture. Maybe
papier mache would do the trick.
