As a teenager I wanted - at least for a short time - to become a window dresser. Though I had no idea that was a regular occupation you could train for or get paid for. It just seemed like a fantastic thing some unknown arty type person, a world away from my working class background, would do. Anyway, I'm still drawn to beautifully designed and arranged windows. They can be magical spaces on our otherwise dull and same-as-every-other-town High Streets.
These are images from a window display at posh shop Harvey Nicks. I do love foxes, and admire the resourceful urban fox who survives despite the concrete and traffic.

This fox is crying out to be turned into a needlepoint pattern. Lots of black and white and flashes of dark purple and deep red berries from a hedgerow. It could look splendid.
I love the way these berries and leaves are given a splash of colour, but not on every one.
This is another urban fox (sadly partly hid behind some ugly fencing). I love the way this animal's posed, and would stitch it in its true colours - lots of reddish browns and golds. Not sure about what background I'd choose. Maybe a gloriously coloured fox against lots of greys to reflect its current habitat?
Potential needlepoint patterns are everywhere. We've just got to open our eyes and see them.
