ALDI LACURA SOY MULTI INTENSIVE SERUM
At £3.49 for a 50ml bottle this is great value. The packaging looks surprisingly classy for such a budget range. Stand this bottle on your dressing table and it doesn’t scream ‘cheap’. Lightly fragranced, smooth and easily absorbed it’s a new find for me, though online reviews show other women caught on to this ages ago. Good news too is, as per Aldi’s website, it’s not tested on animals. The website states Aldi’s own brand products and their ingredients aren’t tested on animals in their cosmetics range, their household cleaning and healthcare products. Phew!
BADGER SLEEP BALM
This company sell lots of balms, including superb lip balms and ones for hands and feet. This night-time balm is specially formulated to help get a good night’s sleep, and it’s come in very handy for me over the years. In a small, pretty tin is a mix of olive oil, castor oil, beeswax, bergamot, rosemary, lavender, ginger and balsam fir. (For more info about ingredients, see http://www.badgerbalm.com/p-393-sleep-balm-natural-sleep.aspx.) It can be rubbed into the skin, and is especially soothing if you’ve got a cold and have been sniffing and sneezing, constantly rubbing your poor nose with scratchy tissues until it’s sore. A tin lasts for ages. I’ve bought this from Boots in the past, though couldn’t see it on theirs or Superdrug’s website. Try ‘alternative’ shops that sell organic health and beauty products in your area, or just do it the easy way and find an online stockist such as http://www.bathandunwind.com/badger-balm/.
SUPERDRUG EXTRACTS CONDITIONER – RASPBERRY & MACADAMIA
I do like Superdrug. Their shops are easy to navigate around, the aisles well spaced out and they regularly have deals on own brand products. This conditioner is £1.99 for a 400ml bottle, and currently on a ‘two for £3.00’ offer. It’s got the thickness you want from a conditioner, and smells lovely. You could team it with the matching shampoo. As with Aldi’s own range, Superdrug’s own brand products are not tested on animals either. They’re also BUAV approved, so you can shop with a clear conscience.
Other products that offer great all round value are :
Vaseline – obviously! It’s a wonderful multi tasker, and any beauty bag’s essential.
Baby ‘bum butter’ – not the most attractive name, but whether you buy it from Waitrose or Wilkinson a tub of ‘bum butter’ from their baby care range gives a soothing and cost effective moisturiser for not just your backside, but for heels and elbows too.
Original Source shower gels and creams – I always wait until this is reduced to a quid a bottle. I think this range has some fab flavours and particularly like the scent of the Coconut one, the Pure Lime and – mmm! – the shower cream in Vanilla & Raspberry.
