In the afternoon it was off to choir rehearsals. I'm part of a massive choir being formed to sing a one-off performance at Bristol's jazz festival in March. There's going to be around 300 of us, I think, all belting out jazzed up versions of Disney classics. King of the Swingers, Bare Necessities and even that song from Frozen.
I sing anyway with the South Bristol Wellbeing Choir, which is a community choir. We sing pop songs, old folk tunes, anything and everything really from Delilah to Scarborough Fair via Lullaby of Broadway and Besame Mucho.
But this jazz choir is much more challenging. I don't read music, so I'm trying to pick up the basics of that. Sunday afternoon rehearsals have been about 2 and 1/2 hours long, and left me pooped! I trudged home in the cold 'n' windy rain feeling thoroughly washed out. Sunday night was curled up on the sofa under a patchwork quilt. I dozed off during Dragon's Den, but did watch open mouthed at Meet the Ukippers. If you've not seen it, catch it on iplayer. Prepare to be gobsmacked at blatant racism on show. Not to mention one woman's collection of freakish clown ornaments. (I'm not big on clowns myself. I agree with those who say 'there are 2 types of people. Those who like clowns ... and clowns.'
Enough of my ramblings - how was your Sunday? Anything you've found inspiring on your own Lenten Journey?
